Note: I streamed the game1 and was pleasantly surprised that there were no problems interfering with the broadcast. I laughed aloud when I heard that Speeza was behind the net searching for black gold (the puck)!
As expected the boys played with heart tonight and got a solid win in Montreal.
Hopefully we’ll start rolling again on Thursday in Buffalo.
As suggested before, the lack of motivation by the team on a whole was going to cause use to collapse in upon ourselves.
That happened spectacularly in Toronto on Saturday night. Ottawa could not best Vesa Toskala and scored a nasty goose-egg on the night.
As with any bad loss the character of the team will be shown during the next game. How will be bounce from this poor showing?
Don’t get me wrong, I love this team. I happily walk into my office after every game wearing one of my jerseys and stare down every Leaf fan I can find. I just don’t think this trend can continue to last.
Can Alfie maintain this level of production until the post season? Wither Dany Heatley?
I unfortunately see us winning games in a lackluster fashion that will build overconfidence in us which will ultimately lead to our down fall in the post season. There, I said it.
A few years back, wed be winning these games with a 3-4 goal margin without breaking a sweat.
Daniel is the heart of this team. Never before have I seen this man go so hard into every game. SOmething happened last season that hasn’t been forgotten by our captain this season.
Eight hundred games is a nice plateau, even sweeter when it’s all been with a single team. That isn’t done much anymore these days.
Icing on the cake? Showing you’ve still go it by contending for a hat trick on the night.

Hey whatever happen to that phenom goal-tender on the Buffalo Sabres? Ryan, Ryan Miller, that’s his name… He still playing, cause that guy last night looked rather human letting in some of the goals that he did.
Miller was, to coin a Bob Uecker-ism, “Just a little outside”, on Alfie’s first goal . I mean half the net was empty. My momma could have scored on him…
Daniel Alfredsson scored twice in a come from behind victory over the Montreal Canadiens.
The game was presented on the CBC and as such I was able to watch it between dry walling a hole in my living room.
The Sens are rolling along at full speed, even without Jason Spezza in the lineup, however things aren’t as happy as they seem.
I’m not going to mince words, this isn’t a serious problem yet, however it bears looking into.
The team is starting to slip in it’s attention to detail and sooner or later it is going to cost us. Right now the lack of good D, the casual turnovers and all around sloppy play are sidelined by the ability of certain players (Daniel, Dany) to jump on mistakes made by the other team. Coupled by our (insanely) winning streak and best opening to a season ever, this gives the team no cause to correct itself.
Why fix what is still essentially a winning formula. No, no, scratch that. It’s almost a free pass to two points.
This type of game plan won’t last for long. By the time the Christmas break is done, teams will start finding their groove and sloppy holes will be closed.
Perhaps a nice road-trip to the defensive minded west coast might smarten these guys up a little.
From the highlights I saw, Emery did not have a good night, allowing four goals on rather easy shots. At least two were five-holes that should have been easy.
Despite channeling LaLime for an evening, I suspect Emery will bounce back. However, the pundits will talk only of the goalie controversy in Ottawa which won’t do much for Ray’s self esteem.
Perhaps he’ll take it out on the motorists…
